Forever I have been a fan of the bath. I have long enjoyed bath oils, bath salts, body washes, and scented soaps.
However, because of a cruel condition called eczema I could never happily indulge in Mr Bubble. Nor could I lounge in a tub full of scented bubbles and exclaim "Calgon! Take me away!" No, the only thing those overly scented and dyed concoctions left me with was a rash and a reminder that alas, bubbles baths were not meant for me.
Then recently on a trip to the frozen tundra which is my homeland "Minnesota" my sister convinced me to make a pilgrimage to the Mall of America to visit the "Lush" store. Despite a depleted wallet and angst for Mall of Gommhora, I complied.
After traipsing past people wanting to put exstentions in my hair, file my nails, and sell me cell phones we had finally arrived. One sniff of the giant hand cut bars of soap and I was intrigued. Being a soap snob I resisted temptation and perused. I sampled the wares and while impressed by the quality, was deterred by high prices and small quantities.
While quality was great because everything I sampled was fantastic. I couldn't justify spending that kind of money on something that had a shelf life shorter than similar products made by great artisans on Etsy. However, there were two items that I will be going back to Lush for as long as they have them in stock. Bath Bombs and Bubble Bars.
Thinking I deserved a treat after my foray back to the hinterland. I purcased "Blue Skies and Fluffy white clouds" Bubble Bar as well as a Bath bomb (which I will review later). On my sisters reccomendation I split the bar into fourths as I am not a huge fan of being over scented. I ran my hot bath, put my Bubble bar into the water and as the scent and bubbles slid over my skin I could feel myself physically relax and a smile spread across my face.
Bathing was not only a pleasure because my skin felt softened and moisturized, but the bubbles and blue tinted water were fun! And for the neurotic clean freak in me, it did not stain the tub and believe me I was in there for a while. I came out of the tub soft, relaxed, smooth, and looking forward to my next bath.
I will definitely be buying Bubble Bars from Lush in th future and I definitely recommend breaking them up. Unless you want a really scented bath, or have money to burn in which case, drop the whole thing in and go nuts!
