Frantic 911 calls began coming in to police early Sunday morning, from terrified guests at the luxurious "Montage Hotel and Spa" in Laguna Beach, California. There were reports of a crazy, naked woman running around the resort with a gun who was threatening them. Police arrived to find a couple in their room in the southern end called "Treasure Island Park", at the exclusive "five star resort".The couple had a loaded semi-automatic handgun and a bag of extra rounds of ammunition found in the room with them. Shots were fired into the room after police ordered the couple to surrender the weapon and were refused. Police and hotel security guards were concerned about their own safety and the safety and security of guests. The officer could see the gun being passed back and forth between the couple. The gun was pointed randomly at the officer also, police claim. The man and the woman were both found dead of bullet wounds.

The shooting in Laguna Beach, the first officer involved in a decade, is being investigated by Orange County District Attorney's Office. The couple's identity has not been released pending notification of relatives. The couple believed to be in their 50's were not from Laguna Beach. Police said, results will show whether the couple had been killed by police or by the couple's own weapon. After a twelve hour investigation, police were left wondering why the couple had checked into the resort carrying a weapon and extra ammunition. Security Guards working at the resort speculated that the incident might just be a domestic dispute that had gone horribly wrong. There was also no known reason for why the woman had been running through the resort naked, brandishing a pistol.

Across the $2,200 a night hotel grounds, yellow police tape still secured areas and white evidence markers were present, spread over the lush green lawns. Expensive wicker lawn furniture sat unoccupied. Tourists and guests of the hotel were redirected around taped off areas in order to reach the sandy beach. Guests stood around shaking their heads concerned that this kind of violence could be present in such exclusive, peaceful surroundings. Susan Neisloss, a Montage spokeswoman claimed that the hotel has been cooperating with the investigation. "This was an isolated incident between the two guests involved," Neisloss stated. There has been no reason thus far, to believe that drugs or alcohol were involved.

Was wondering if anything more was found about this incident. Not the kind of thing one expects to hear about in Laguna. Love that town.
