The island of Bali is small, and can be seen by car in a day. Have breakfast in Southern Kuta, lunch in central Ubud, and dinner on northern Lovina Beach, and be back to your villa in time for a tropical drink by moonlight. The best way to get around Bali is to hire a driver for the day, preferably one driver for the length of your stay. Many Bali bloggers mention specific drivers they have hired and recommend. If you are more independent, there is a great page about car rentals at Bali Blog. Just remember, you'll need an international driver's license. Do, however, consider a driver, as you will feel safer, and you'll be driven to areas you may never have discovered on your own!
If you'd like to have a Bali luxury villa experience at an affordable rate, you might want to visit Sinar Cinta. Amed, a small coastal town in Eastern Bali, is home to this traditional Balinese villa. A staff of five, including cook and driver, are ready to serve you when you book this luxurious villa on the sandy beach. A view of ancient Mount Agung is included, as well as tiered rice paddies in the distance. On the beach, ceremonies for special holidays such as Nyepi, or, Balinese New Year, take place in glorious color throughout the year. The owners have created a Flickr page with great photos to give you an idea of the beauty that awaits the traveler.
Many people travel through Bali with no lodging plans at all, allowing for more flexibility. This makes for great Bali travel deals for those who plan ahead! Most Bali hotels offer half-off published rates if you book online before you arrive. Most regular prices are already affordable, but take advantage of the half-price lodging and indulge in a Balinese spa day during your trip with the money you've saved.
Here are some of the top accommodation values in Bali, according to TripAdvisor:
Tegal Sari, Ubud
Alam Shanti, Ubud
Villa Ixora, Seminyak
Damai Lovina Villas, Lovina
Whether you stay at a hotel and dare rent a car to tool around the island on your own, or you luxuriate at Sinar Cinta and let the staff pamper you, a Bali vacation will soothe your mind and body.
