Lyfe Jennings Lyfe Changes Early Album Review

Does Lyfe Change Lives?

R&B singer Lyfe Jennings has seemingly come from nowhere to becoming a major force in entertainment. After serving ten years in prison and winning Amateur Night at The Apollo, Lyfe released two chart topping and critically acclaimed albums. Now Lyfe is back with his third album Lyfe Change.

The first single off of Lyfe Change is Cops Up. The song was originally recorded by Underdogs Entertainment artists Luke & Q. The song is harder in nature than you would think from Lyfe. The song features Lyfe rapping along with singing, however it is not the best choice for a first single.

The second single off the album is Never Never Land. The song sounds like vintage Lyfe. The song sounds familiar to past singles he has released. The song however is fairly solid.

On Brand New, Lyfe is joined by T.I. The song is definitely one of the better tracks on the album. The track has a very catchy beat and solid vocal arrangements. T.I. drops a solid verse which adds to the track.

Snoop Dogg joins Lyfe on Old School. The song is not that solid. The chorus is lacking completely. The only redeeming feature of the track is the Snoop Dogg guest appearance.

Wyclef Jean pops in on You Think You Got It Bad. The song starts off fairly slow and melodic and builds into a solid offering. Wyclef Jean channels past hits like 911 and adds greatly to the track.

Will I Ever is a solid ballad. The track has the live feeling which adds greatly to the track. This song is one of the standout tracks on the album.

Warriors is a very interesting sounding track. There are many different elements throughout the track. There are some very nice moments throughout the track however some just do not seem to fit.

It's Real hits incredibly hard on your speaker system. The song seems like a sexual to one of Lyfe's biggest hits S.E.X. The beat is very minimal with drum hits and other synth sounds littered throughout the track.

Keep On Dreaming is another solid ballad. This one is very uplifting in nature. Positive songs like this are missing in the market today. The vibe of the song is very Wyclef Jean.

Overall Lyfe Change is a fairly solid album with several standout tracks. Overall Lyfe Change gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Lyfe Jennings make sure you pick up Lyfe Change when it is available in stores on April 29th.
