Lynchburg Hyundai and Mitsubishi Dealership in Virginia: Review

Used Car Sales

Angelie MacKenzie
We had been looking for a car for my mom for a couple of weeks. However, I didn't go to Lynchburg Hyundai with the intention of buying a car. I was picking up my own vehicle from having preventative maintenance done. My mom left after dropping me off. Since this was to be very quick, I hadn't eaten anything yet that day.

Picking up my vehicle, we discussed how my mom needed a new car. He asked what I was willing to spend, and I told him the general idea of what we were thinking. After he placed a call to sales, a car was pulled around. I wasn't planning to buy a car that day especially without my mom there since the car was for her and she'd be making the payments. But my mom is easy going about that kind of thing, and when I called her on my cell, she said she didn't care what I did. So we went on a test drive. They were so nice, they even offered to take the car to my mom for her to see, but I declined. It really was unnecessary since she was slightly familiar with the make and model that I was considering for her.

It's when you're in the office that you need to be cautious.

When the sales person and I arrived back at the dealership, we discussed the financing. I was very clear that I didn't want the extended warranty. They kept changing who I spoke with making me repeat that I didn't want the extended warranty. I told them that it was already 3pm now and I hadn't eaten anything that day. I told them I was hungry and wanted to leave. I felt like a hostage. While I could have left at any time, I did want to buy the car. But since when does it take that many hours to buy a car?

Then the business manager took her turn with me. Apparently the cheap price of this really nice, full sized sedan with only thirty some thousand miles was dependent on the purchase of the extended warranty. I tried and tried to say no, and they wouldn't let me.

From comments that were made, it seemed they feared that if the car broke down that we wouldn't pay for the car if we didn't buy the extended warranty. Maybe this was typical of other people, but I found it insulting. Besides, why did it matter since the financing was going to be through a bank? Then she started in on gap insurance. I told her that I felt like she was trying to sell me a lot of stuff that I didn't want.

The truth is that this place has such an excellent service department that it's truly unnecessary to buy an extended warranty. I ended up buying the extended warranty, but even with the extended warranty the car was still an excellent deal.

It's been almost a year now since we bought this car. It's running great and hasn't had any problems at all. Even with the few problems that I had, I highly recommend this dealership for service and sales.
