One type of brackish fish is known as the Lyretail Molly. This fish is actually all silver in color and looks a lot like a Balloon Molly. All Mollies will look a little bit different and have different colors. You can place them all together in a community tank as long as they are not territorial or aggressive towards one another. These fish will reach about three inches in length which means you will need at least a 5 gallon tank for one Lyretail Molly. If you have a 40 gallon fish tank you will be able to keep at least 10 or 12 fish inside of the aquarium.
You will need to keep the temperature around 70 to 80 degrees. You will need to place a heater in the tank to keep the water from getting too cold. You will also need to hook up your light to a timer so that you can control when the light comes on and goes off even when you're not home. Only set the light to come on for about 6 hours. This will control the water temperature and help the water from getting too warm and killing all of your Mollies in your fish tank. Mollies are very sensitive to temperature changes over 2 degrees per day.
You can purchase this fish for around $4 from a pet store near you. You will want to ask the people at the pet store if the fish are brackish and see what they say. If they do not say anything about it you will need to by the fish from another store. If they didn't keep the fish in brackish water it will probably be stressed out and get sick once you purchase the fish and move it into your aquarium. When it comes to feeding this fish you will want to purchase fish flakes as well as different types of frozen foods such as brine shrimp.
