Ma'am and Fellow

The Dancing Lady of Graham Springs

Walton S. Tissot

"Hallowed and Hushed be the place of the dead . Step Softly. Bow Head."

The grave of a girl
Whose name is not there
Of beauty bold and flaxen hair
Who came but briefly
She stayed to dance
Maybe by reason
Maybe by chance
In haunted meadow
What is her name?
On the gentle breeze
Blowing; settling the grain
Harmonic concerto
Her song in the rain
A grave for a girl
What is her name?
Young lass lost
And the lumbering ages

This is a great rhyming poem. It works well for the mood of the piece.

A poem as lovely as the legend.

I have often wondered about the stories that those who are in unmarked graves would have to tell. But then I wonder that about all of those who have gone on to the afterlife.
