MAC Eye Kohl in Ola Viola!

I want to start this by saying that this is my least favorite MAC eyeliner that I own. While the color is superb, something got messed up on the formula. I swapped for it, so maybe it is old or something, but even when I got it, it was in the same condition.

COLOR

Ola Viola! is a light-toned blue-based purple, almost a lavender. The color is pretty and very spring-y, but I will definitely not be using this for spring. However, its fault is not with this fabulous pastel color, it is in the formula.

FORMULA

While I typically adore Eye Kohls, this one was less than satisfactory. It applies cakey and breaks into pieces, leaving chunks on my eyelid and even in my eye- gross! This one does smudge and fade and has poor color pigmentation. In no way does it glide on in no way is it long lasting- I had four hours before it completely faded. I hope mine is just old, because this would be a disgrace to eyeliner or the MAC brand.

FUNCTIONALITY

If the formula were better, this would be the perfect spring or Easter color. Since spring is not all year, it would probably sit idle. However, if you have a good Ola Viola!, this should definitely be used for spring. I could not think of a better color. Since the formula is so bad on this, it is not good for portability as you need a brush and q-tips or other usually unnecessary tools to apply it. Thumbs down.

PACKAGING

Ola Viola! comes in the MAC packaging and has a plastic top. It is sleek, chic, small, and portable. AKA, the perfect packaging for eyeliner. This one sharpens horribly and crumbles upon first touch.

PRICE

Ola Viola! is no longer available anymore as it is discontinued, but all other Eye Kohls retail for $14.50 wherever MAC cosmetics are sold. I know you can find this one on eBay, as well.

FINAL OPINIONS

If the formula for the one you have is good, run with it! This color is great for this time of year and is the kind of color I would wear all year. I wouldn't pay for this, though, and am ecstatic I didn't. Huge thumbs down for Ola Viola!.
