MAC Grand Duo Blush in Love Rock - Product Review

Grandest Duo of Them All

Layla A.
When the Grand Duos collection came out last year, I was very sad. At the time, I didn't have any money, but there was one duo I was in love with at first sight. Although, I think everyone was in love with this one. Who wouldn't be? I was finally able to get my lemming on eBay for only a few dollars more than it had originally sold for- yay!

COLOR

Love Rock is a gorgeous duo, hot pink on one side and a swirl pattern of pink and purple on the other. Unlike the other duos in the collection, I think both sides can be used as blush, most of the others have a highlight. When you swirl together the veined side, you get a gorgeous baby pink that would be great as a fun spring blush or a highlight. When you swirl both sides together, you get a medium pink- how pretty. These are shimmery, but they have the same nice finish as an MSF and apply like one too. The color can be built or blended for the perfect blush.

FORMULA

Mineralize blushes are a great formula- light, colorful, shimmery, awesome! I really love how these blend so easily and give a little touch of sparkle to my cheeks. Because there are two sides, you can get endless color possibilities and can even use these as a gorgeous pink eyeshadow look. I have applied them wet to my eye and it only intensifies the color. This formula is really fantastic as a blush and I love that it doesn't feel cloying.

FUNCTIONALITY

Since there are two colors, this is a very functional product. You are paying for two blushes instead of one and getting lost of possibilities in the color world. It is the classic MAC compact, but unfortunately, mineralize products cannot be depotted. These cannot go in blush palettes. However, you can probably find a color in here that is good for any time of year.

PACKAGING

This is the classic MAC packaging- nothing special here. Sturdy compact, MAC logo and window, good packaging.

PRICE

While these duos are no longer available, you can still find sellers on eBay, usually going for about $27. If you don't want to spend that much on a blush, then seriously, don't look at a picture of Love Rock- you will fall in love and have to have it.

FINAL OPINIONS

Love Rock was everything I hoped it would be and more. I find myself reaching for it constantly and use it in many other ways than a traditional blush. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend it. Great pigmentation, gorgeous colors, endless possibilities. This is the prettiest blush I own and it is definitely worth the MAC price tag.
