MAC Lipgelee in Saplicious - Product Review

Gorgeous Nude with Lots of Potential

Layla A.
One of my first ever high-end lip glosses, have always had a soft spot for MAC lipgelees. Whether it is the delicious vanilla scent or the slightly stick gloss I love, I'll never know. My favorite one is Saplicious, the first one I EVER purchased, and I have to say, it ranks high all around. Haters of sticky lip gloss: you might want to close this review.

COLOR

Saplicious is a gorgeous mid-tone brown-caramel color that when applied sheer, gives a gorgeous soft tint and a moisturized feeling to the lips. It can be layered on for a color closer to what is in the tube, or left as a light layer for perfectly glossed lips. It does have some shimmer, but unlike some glosses, it won't make your lips look like a disco ball. The color is so gorgeous; it almost reminds me of a gem or precious stone. This color is great for a nude lip and intense eye look and can be by itself for a natural, bronzed glow.

FORMULA

Lipgelees are not nearly as sticky as Dazzleglass, but probably more sticky than Lipglass. However, if applied sheer, it gives a slick, glossy feeling and makes your mouth look super natural. Lipgelees last longer on me than Lipglass, but not as long as Dazzleglass. It will probably have to be reapplied every few hours, but would really bring out the color in a nude lipstick. My favorite combination is Kinds Sexy Lipstick with Saplicious over it. I really love this formula as it is never gritty or too watery.

FUNCTIONALITY

Since this in a tube, it is awesome for on-the-go, in the purse, or just throwing in your pocket. Since it is a gloss, it is not super long lasting, reapplication is necessary. Very good look for the natural girl or the younger girl just starting out in makeup. Even if you layer it on over and over, the true color is very subtle.

PACKAGING

Lipgelees are packaged in a clear tube with the classic MAC writing and black lid. Nothing special, but it is a fairly big tube of gloss at .5 oz.

PRICE

Lipgelees are available at MAC and go for $14. Pretty pricey for a tube of gloss, but the consistency is really nice and one tube will last a long time. I find that the shine on these is so superb, I am willing to pay whatever for these.

FINAL OPINIONS

While Saplicious is no longer available, MAC has some other great lipgelees that are very similar. You can find these at MAC stores, MAC counters, or maccosmetics.com and I highly suggest you at least look into them. You really can control how sticky they are with how much is applied and this is one of my favorite MAC products. I can't stop looking at my lips!
