MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy Review: Is This Blush Shade Right for You?

Candice W.
One of my recent MAC makeup purchases was the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy. I was looking for a new blush and received this recommendation from a MAC makeup artist. Now that I've used the shade numerous times, I'll share my review of the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy.

The MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy is part of MAC's line of mineralized blushes. There are a few other blushes to choose from: Dainty, Warm Soul, Superdupernatural and Love Thing.

During a shopping trip to the MAC counter at a local mall, I asked for a blush that would go well with my brown skin tone when I wore natural colors like golds, bronzes and browns on my eyes and lips. I already had a MAC blush, Mountain High, which was on the rosy side, so I wanted something a little more natural looking.

The makeup artist recommended the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy. At first glance I thought the blush was still a bit too rosy for my taste. After trying a few more blushes MAC offers I realized that this was my best choice.

The MAC Mineralize Blush is described as baked minerals into a sheer powder formula that provides lightweight application. The Love Joy blush shade is described as has a mix of warm mid tone brown with gold pearl. The golden speckles in the blush creates a nice radiant pearlized glow effect on the cheeks. The rosy undertone provides added warmth for your cheeks.

As a woman that wears the NW45 shade for MAC foundation, I found the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy works well with my skin tone. My undertone is slightly more orange than red and this blush plays up my cheeks very well.

Based on other reviews of the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy works best with those with dark brown skin, light brown and olive skin tones. Others with fairer skin have said that the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy appears to dark on their skin or dirty. If you want to give it a try, use a little of this blush as a little goes a long way to create color on fair skin. For darker hued women, a little more MAC Mineralized Blush in Love Joy can be used to create the look you want because you can put in on in light layers.

Overall, I would recommend MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy for those with dark and medium skin tones. MAC mineralize blushes are of high quality and have staying power so its well worth the $21 price tag for the 3.5 ounce blush. Other MAC powder blushes cost $18 so keep this in mind when shopping at a MAC store or the Web site for makeup.

A bit pricey, but the ability to progessively layer may make it worth the price...esp if for those whose skin tone changes (from sun exposure, seasonal changes, tanning bed, etc).
