Well, for those of you who are looking to make a decent investment in a foundation for not too much cash, the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder foundation is the perfect fit. While it clearly runs a little bit more expensively than a drugstore brand foundation (I bought mine for about $26USD at a MAC counter in New Jersey), it is worth every cent.
The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural comes in 8 shades ranging from Light to Deep Dark, so if you have the time to be color matched at a counter (it takes literally 5 minutes to be matched as long as the counter is not busy! But please remember to always be courteous and cordial to your makeup artist) there will most certainly be a color that will fit you best. The variety is a great characteristic of this product.
Because the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is a low/minimal coverage foundation, is it perfect for people with just slight redness or faded blemishes that do not want a thick layer of makeup caked onto their face. This product can also be used in conjunction with a liquid foundation, which is the way that I use it. I first go over blemishes and blend uneven tones on my skin with the liquid, and then I set it with a light layer of the Skinfinish powder on top of it. This provides a nice light matte finish to my skin and doesn't make it look like I'm wearing any makeup at all - which is the idea we're all going for!
One problem that I think certain people may have is the drying quality of the powder. If you have dry skin already, I would not recommend this because it does have a tendency to cling unflatteringly to dry skin and cause a wrinkle/dry effect. If you do have dry skin and still would like to try this, I recommend moisturizing heavily beforehand and using a facial primer. However, for anyone with combination-oily skin, this is absolutely perfect!
I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking to invest in a good quality powder foundation. It is very inexpensive when you consider the fact that there are 10g of product in the package and very little is used at a time. I would certainly buy this product again, and am very happy with my purchase.
