MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Porcelain Pink - Product Review

Disappointed by Outcome of Veining

Layla A.
The appeal of a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish is so great, I usually cannot help myself. My recent lemming was Porcelain Pink, loving the name and the swatch on maccosmetics.com. I was able to swap for it, and while I love it, I am slightly disappointed. I have Petticoat and Perfect Topping and this one does not compare. I like using MSFs as a blush, highlight, finishing powder, bronzer, and contour. While this is great for highlighting, it does not meet my blush requirements. It is a good finishing powder though, and I'll tell you why!

COLOR

Porcelain Pink is a light pink with gold veining, but when blended and swatched, it comes out almost orange. Not that that is bad, but for all over the face? No. The closest color I can think of to compare it to is a light version of Pink Bronze pigment. Gorgeous color for the eyes- even cheeks, but face? Not for my fair skin. The color just looks very different on the website, which is always disappointing, but I'll live.

FORMULA

MSFs are one of my favorite MAC products because of how many uses they have. Because of the light, shimmery formula, they really work for anywhere on the face. Porcelain Pink does make a great highlight or even sometimes a bronzer (yes- I am that pale). These give a perfect glow and touch of color to any face.

FUNCTIONALITY

This is where MSFs have the upper hand. They can be used for so many things- eyeshadow, eye liner, blush, highlighter, bronzer, contouring, finishing powder, just about anything! They are also a good compact to have in your purse since they can be used so much. A little does go a long way, so these really are great as a multi-use product.

PACKAGING

Classic MAC packaging- I wish I had more to say. Bigger than a blush compact, same size as a powder or foundation compact. Very sturdy, as most other MAC compacts.

PRICE

MSFs go for $28 for 10 grams of product. For a MAC product, that is a good price in my opinion. Compared to other multi-use products, it really is a steal.

FINAL OPINIONS

I was slightly disappointed by this particular color, but love other MSFs, as you can tell from the rest of the review. If you are looking for a light color, this would be good. Although, you do have to worry about the orange tint you can get when blending. Overall, I am glad I got to try it, but will probably not reach for it too often.
