Mac OS X Lion is Proof that the iPad is the Future of Computing
How Mac OS X Lion is Trying to Make Macs like the iPad
I get it. The iPad is "closed off", has subpar specs to that of a traditional desktop or laptop computer, needs a better keyboard, doesn't even have an accessible file management system, and a host of other issues that make traditional computers a better option, but for all that the iPad has pegged against it, it has way more going for it.
The iPad is ultra-portable, has an efficient and well thought out design, has a thriving app community, can do similar functions of traditional computers, and is so easy to use that anyone from my 2-year-old son to a 99-year-old woman can use it with ease and without training. As it stands, the iPad can't currently overthrow computers, but Apple's new operating system for the Mac, OS X Lion, proves that the iPad is definitely the future of computing.
Nearly all of the new and mind-blowing features of the new Mac OS X Lion have basically been ported directly from the iPad. Mac OS X Lion's Launchpad feature literally turns your Mac's screen into an iPad-like Home Screen, the new operating system is going full-screen to mirror the way the iPad goes about apps, and the new Mac OS X Lion feature also went as far to borrow Auto-Save and Multi-Touch gestures and animations from the popular iPad.
Apple's new operating system shows that we've passed the turning point of where the iPad stopped trying to be like computers and computers are now trying to be like the iPad. Couple this new phenomenon with how quickly the iPad is selling and how rapidly Apple's tablet is evolving, adding new cameras, a faster processor and gpu, better design, and other features in this second installment, and it's easy to see that within the next 10 years Apple's successful tablet will be the computer of the future.
