MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Duck

Layla A.
When you hear the name Duck, you think yellow, right? You would be wrong, according to MAC. This Powerpoint Eye Pencil has a great formula, pedestrian color, and normal packaging. Is it worth it? Eh....

COLOR

Duck is actually very reminiscent of Bourbon 24/7 Pencil, though matte and a tiny bit darker. It is a deep-toned brown and has no shimmer or crazy tints or undertones. This is definitely you classic brown eyeliner.

FORMULA

In an odd way, I actually prefer this formula to my Urban Decay one. It glides on just like Bourbon, but it is actually a lot creamier. Maybe this is a trademark of Powerpoint Eye Pencils, but I could definitely get on board with this formula. It does not budge and lasts forever on my eyes. This is also creamy enough to be a great eyeshadow base. The formula is definitely great on this eyeliner. It has great color payoff unlike some of the other Powerpoint Eye Pencils, and is true to color.

FUNCTIONALITY

If you like creamy eyeliners, this is great. Browns are great for that natural look and the combination makes an awesome product. It is portable and can definitely be used for everyday.

PACKAGING

The packaging is just as sturdy as any other MAC packaging, but I do not think it is as sturdy as the Urban Decay pencils. It is black, silver writing, plastic cap, easy to sharpen. However, I have noticed that with more use, the product has started to move around and does not feel very secure. It is sleek, chic, and almost feel cheap, honestly. This may be because the Eye Kohl line has real, normal wood whereas these have black wood that may not have been put together as well.

PRICE

Duck retails at MAC for $14.50, and for the creaminess and staying power, I think this is worth it.

FINAL OPINIONS

I actually didn't realize how much more I like this than the Urban Decay until I sat down and wrote this review. The texture and application is a hands down win, and it is a great color for anyone. I think Duck is definitely worth checking out if you love brown eyeliner, and even if you just want to try something new and stray from black, this is great.
