Wes Nisker said it right in the play the "Tragedy of Macbeth" by William Shakespeare the main character Macbeth becomes corrupted by the little power that he receives and starts a revolution to become king. In doing so, he changes from a Noble Thane to A tyrant. The transformation Macbeth undergoes from a high ranking Thane to a fallen tyrant is due to the influence of Lady Macbeth, the Witches, and Macbeth own avarice and ambition which is awakend by all three parties.
The influence of Lady Macbeth drives Macbeth to transform from a noble thane to fallen tyrants. For example, when Lady Macbeth demands Macbeth to kill King Duncan in their own castle. She says "What best was't then / that made you break this enterprise to me? / when you durst do it, then you were a man :..."( 1, 7, 47-49). In these few lines, Lady Macbeth exploits Macbeth's manhood and his love for her against him to force him to do this deed. Lady Macbeth desires the thrown for both of them. Lady Macbeth believes she and Macbeth will be happier, if they had more power. For more evidence, when Macbeth returns to his wife after killing King Duncan she says "go get some water, / and wash this filthy witness form your hands." (2, 2, 45-46) The symbolism of the blood on Macbeth's hands is his guilt; Lady Macbeth is telling him to wash this crime from his mind. Lady Macbeth has control over her husband. To clarify, he will do what every she influences him to do by her world and Macbeths actions. As a result of her constant controlling nature Macbeth develops a tragic character flaw that leads to his down fall, Lady Macbeth is not the only element to change Macbeth the witches of a lot to do with his downfall as well. The witches of the play have a hand in the transportation of Macbeth's character as well. Playing on Macbeth's avarice the witches convince him that one day he will be king. This prediction sparks his interest and even consideration for the murder of King Duncan. An instance were this can be seen in the play is when at Macbeths first encounter with the witches when they greet him Saying
First Witch. All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, thane of Glamis!
Second Witch. All Hail, Macbeth! Hail To thee, Thane of Cawdor!
Third Witch. All Hail, Macbeth. That shalt be king hereafter! (1, 3, 48-50)
This statement from the witches unveils a dark and dangerous road for Macbeth. The statement of the First Witch Macbeth already knows, wile the statement of the second and third witch is knowledge that he don't have and sparks his interest. They tell him this but do not tell him what he will do to become King nor do they tell him the whole truth for them it is mere entertainment. In another example of the witches part in his transportations is, when the witches not only awaken Macbeth's ambition but by calling an apparition that states "be bloody, bold, and resolute! Laugh to scorn / the power of man, for none of woman born / shall harm Macbeth." (4, 1, 79-81) The witches never intended to help Macbeth they told him a half truths over and over again. As a result of the witches continues influence Macbeth develops a seemingly invincible personality that is riddled with insanity and eventually death thought it is not entirely the witches fault that Macbeth has completely transformed.
Macbeth external conflicts have is a large part of this transportation but he would never have changed had he taken the high road in his own morality. It is the inter conflict that causes Macbeth to change for the darker.
Macbeth is the one that chooses to do all the deeds that he does (a,S,l)
The "tragedy of Macbeth" is a tragedy because Macbeth has all the making of a hero at the beginning of the play but developed in to a fallen tyrant do to the influence of outside and inside influences. The transformation of Macbeth form a noble thane to a fallen tyrant is largely the fault of Lady Macbeth, The witches, as well as Macbeths own avarice and ambition
