Cedar River Seafood originated to the south of Jacksonville. One of the largest rivers that runs into the large St. Johns River is called the Cedar River. This river is known for its wonderful fishing, and people often take this river upstream, past the mouth of the St. Johns River , to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean to catch shrimp and oysters. Thus the idea for Cedar River Seafood started in a small city to the south of Jacksonville called Middleburg. The corporation for Cedar River Seafood is located in that small rural town. The company is named Cedar River Seafood Incorporated of Middleburg.
The chain is located mostly in North and Central Florida and in Southern Georgia. The branch in Macclenny opened about two months ago, and I have had the chance to visit on three different occasions since to sample their fair. Prices are very reasonable for a seafood restaurant
The menu runs the gamut from traditional seafood such as trout and shrimp to more exotic samples such s claims, oysters, and even gator tail. Now anyone who has never eaten gator tail ought to give it a try. Think of chewy chicken with a kick and you have gator tail. As for my preferences, there are other items on the menu I prefer more.
Probably the best buy is the 20 piece shrimp dinner, either broiled or fried. The dinner comes complete with 2 sides and hush puppies. The restaurant has a special butter for crackers, complete with shrimp. It is probably more akeen to a dip. you can have your fill of crackers and shrimp butter before your dinner arrives. We usually order the 20 piece shrimp dinner for 2, and order an extra side, such as a salad. After all, it is difficult to eat 20 shrimp all by yourself! The 20 piece shrimp dinner at Cedar River Seafood in Macclenny Florida costs only $10.00.
Another one of my favorite dishes, for the diet conscious, is the grilled skewered shrimp over a bed of rice. This meal comes complete with one side, and costs only $9.99. Another favorite is the grilled or fried trout. The trout dinner comes complete with two sides, and hush puppies for $9.99. The nice thing to know is that all of the fish and seafood is fresh, brought in from the Cedar River, St. Johns, or Atlantic Oceans. Who said you had to go to the beach to eat fresh seafood? Remember this restaurant is about 60 miles from the nearest beach.
Not only can you dine in, but the Macclenny Cedar River Seafood has put in a patio section, with outdoor dining. Summer being what it is in Florida, I have not tried the patio dining yet. They also have a separate room, with divider, for meetings. The general public eats there, until the area is reserved. There is also a bar in the divided area.
If you are ever in the North Florida area, be sure and check out Cedar River Seafood in Macclenny Florida. Also remember that they have other branches in North and Central Florida and in Southern Georgia. The fresh fish and seafood is worth it, plus the prices at Cedar River Seafood can't be beat.

Post a CommentMy apologies. The name is Crystal River. However, all the other information is correct in this article, as I have eaten there frequently.
