MacGregor MT Hybrid

Having only a few more reviews on all the great new products from MacGregor left to write, I can say I may have saved the best for last. The hybrids, fairway woods and drivers. Similar to the MacTec line in some regards, but totally different in others, these clubs look great and perform even better than the old NVG line. These of course are all part of the entirely new line up for MacGregor Golf in 2008. I was a bit skeptical at first when they released all new products, but after having a chance to spend some time with them in my hands, I will say that I hope this gamble pays off for them. A fresh look, a classic line in the MT and the tradition of MacGregor will hopefully be the secret recipe for success that brings them back to the top of the golf equipment ladder.

The MacGregor MT Hybrids feature a stainless steel body and face with MacGregor's Cub Face 360* Technology. This makes for the entire club face to be a sweet spot which not only makes the club more forgiving, but longer no matter where you hit it on the face. The rest of the technology is a little standard in the world of hybrids these days, with the weight being low and back to help create a higher launch angle and the ability to get the ball through the rough with ease. The real thing that caught my eye is that they offer this in a standard, 2* up and 2* flat lie angles. This makes for a very custom addition to your current iron set.

I'll admit, when I took this club out to hit it was not the best looking hybrid I have seen. Read my review on the Cobra Baffler Pro for that honor. But with looks out of the way, the performance was amazing. High soft draws that seemed to carry forever was the shot that this club produced. I could fade it, but not too easily. Lower shots were a little tough to pull off as well, but that is not what a hybrid is designed to do . The gaping was a little off between the irons and hybrids, which is typically the case. I would play around with the length of the club to get the proper distance gap. I don't like hitting a hybrid 2 iron 230 yards and my 3 iron 200, thats too much difference!

Overall if you need a hybrid that hits it long with a load of technology and want to give MacGregor Golf another try, the MT hybrid is the club for you!
