MacGregor MT Pro C Forged Iron Review

MikeBabjak
While it is a big gamble, 2008 for MacGregor golf is going to be a big year! They have a whole new lineup of woods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters! They are taking a more traditional approach to their forged irons and going away from the multi metals and saving them for their game improvement irons. I can't wait to see how things pan out for MacGregor this season, they need a hit, and I think they are going to get one with their new MT line!

The MacGregor MT Pro C Forged cavity back irons go back to the traditional forgings that MacGregor Golf is known for. They are a very clean, classic looking club with minimal offset and a very thin top line. They are forged from a very soft 1025 carbon steel with a CNC milled face for greater control and accuracy. These irons were designed for the better player who could use a little help from a cavity back club, yet still wants a clean looking set as well. They feature a little more offset than the blade which helps to square the club face at impact. The cavity is milled for consistency from club to club.

I hit them a few days ago and I was very impressed! The have a brushed satin finish, which makes for a very nice look when you set them down. I hit good shots with these clubs and they were a lot more forgiving than the Pro M blades are. This is a very good iron overall with shot shaping ability to boot! There was a little more offset than I like to see in a club, but it is made to help people on off center hits and to square the club up more easily. The distance control was very easy to repeat and I think a lot of people will use this club over the Pro M blade. I however am still partial to both of Cobra Golf's new forgings for 2008! Check back for those reviews!

Overall if you need a little more forgiveness in your game yet still want to play a very high quality forged iron, the Pro C irons are for you! They are $799.99 per set and are hitting the stores as we speak. I liked this club, overall I think it will sell a lot more than the Pro M, but as I stated, you will want to read my review on the new Cobra irons!
