"MacGruber" is the Dumbest "Saturday Night Live" Movie Ever Produced

Anyone who enjoys snacking on a celery stalk smeared with peanut butter should avoid "MacGruber" at all costs. The latest movie based on a "Saturday Night Live" sketch, "MacGruber" is equal parts gross and stupid, making it a colossal waste of both time and money.

MacGruber is a weapons expert with a laundry list of medals

Will Forte plays the title character, a weapons expert with more combat experience, medals and Presidential Citations than an entire battalion of soldiers. Ten years before the story begins, however, MacGruber gave up the combat life to lead a quiet life overseas.

Colonel Faith (Powers Boothe), MacGruber's best friend, tries to get his buddy back into the game, however, when evil businessman Dieter Von Cunth (Val Kilmer) steals a nuclear warhead. Learning that his arch-enemy is back, MacGruber slips into his mullet and vest and assembles a team of experts to bring down Cunth.

"MacGruber" even dumber than "The Ladies Man" or "Coneheads"

Easily the dumbest of the "Saturday Night Live" films, "MacGruber" makes absolutely no sense at all. On late-night television, the MacGruber sketches poked fun at the classic 80's series "MacGyver" series (Richard Dean Anderson even appeared on "SNL" in a few of the bits). Most sketches ended with MacGruber failing to disarm a bomb.

Unlike MacGyver, MacGruber has always been portrayed as a bumbling idiot, preferring to talk more than get the job done. It's hard to believe that any character that dense could ever become certified as a Green Beret and a Navy Seal. MacGruber also avoids guns at all costs, creating makeshift bombs out of tennis balls and homemade C-4 explosives.

For most of the film, "MacGruber" gives Will Forte an excuse to run around naked on screen, much like Will Ferrell tends to do. When distracting enemy snipers, MacGruber strips off his clothes and places a celery stalk in a very unusual place. To be honest, it is a distracting move, but one that brings MacGruber's sanity into question.

Kristen Wiig and Val Kilmer deserve better than "MacGruber"

Kristen Wiig, another "Saturday Night Live" cast member, is along for the ride as Vicki St. Elmo, a government operative who left the business at the same time as MacGruber. Wiig is a decent comic actress, and she doesn't deserve to be in a movie this bad, even if it is just to support Forte's portrayal of the title character.

Ryan Phillippe, Powers Boothe and Val Kilmer also must be shaking their heads at this point, wondering how the heck they ended up in a fiasco like "MacGruber." Even with an entire toolbox at his disposal, the legendary MacGyver could do nothing to salvage this horrid waste of ten dollars and 90 minutes.

"MacGruber," rated R for strong crude and sexual content, violence, language and some nudity, currently is playing in theaters nationwide.
