Machines and Things - Poetry for the Soul of Tomorrow

Alfonso Coley
She said, I am not made of steel,

And I replied

I am not a Superman..,-

And her answer was,

You have never been a Superman.

She said, you used to make me feel gorgeous,

And I said, that was so long ago

Where fairy tales

Were almost believable,

And nursery rhymes touched my heart.

She said I am hungry

For more love, more of something

I need, and I said, even a man of steel

Cannot live in a world of machine and things,

Where fairy tales

Are nothing more

Than a cry and a whisper

Away from that last kiss

Of begotten dreams

Where machine and things

Will never feel love

Nor reciprocate the feeling of this love.
