Macworld 2009: San Francisco's Best Hotels, Accommodations for the Expo

The 2009 Macworld conference and exposition is held January 5^th - 9^th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. This is a fantastic opportunity to network, exchange knowledge and meet people with similar interests. This is the platform for vendors to showcase their products that integrate into the Mac operating system. If you are attending, you'll need a place to stay. I suggest staying at a location that is very close to the Moscone Conference Center. Here are my choices of hotels.

The W is located at 181 3rd Street, San Francisco. This is the SoMa District and the hotel is located right next to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. It is also close to the Market Street shopping area. The hotel has all the amenities you can think of and it also has many dining option to choose from. If you checked on the 4^th and checked out on the 9^th, the rates are running at about $299 a night. If you want a more lavish experience with welcome chocolates, champagne and extra goodies the rater are $1690 per night.

The Intercontinental Hotel is located at 888 Howard Street, and is an excellent choice. The Yerba Buena Gardens are about three blocks from the hotel. The hotel is very new, it opened this year and has a very interesting architecture. The hotel is a blue glass building. The philosophy at this hotel is to connect its guests with a live person rather then automated responses. Personal attention and service is provided to its guests. Rates for a standard room at this hotel from January 5^th - January 9^th will cost about 1,437.80. Another option that includes a buffet breakfast is 2,131.99 for the same dates.

Hotel Palomar is located at 12 4th Street, San Francisco is a 2005 Conde Nat Traveler gold award winning hotel. The hotel is above a historic San Francisco building and is centrally located to all the area attractions and the hotel is just a few blocks from the Powell Street cable car station. This hotel really gives you the San Francisco experience many look for while visiting. Starting rates for standard rooms during the week of the expo start at $329 and go as high as $529, all depending on how much luxury you are looking for.

Located in San Francisco's SoMa District, the W San Francisco is reputed as one of the world's elite hotel properties. This stunning California property stands adjacent to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, across the street from Moscone Convention Center and two blocks from Market Street shopping. Union Square and SBC Park are one-half mile away.

I have found that www.travel411.com has very competitive rates. Another site that I use a lot is www.hotels.com when I am traveling. I love the online confirmation and it is so easy to book online. Be sure to print out your confirmations for your hotel and take with you on your trip. This is just in case there is a problem with the reservation.
