The Macworld conference and Expo is a show revolves around the platform of Apple Macintosh, also simply known as MAC. The show features exhibits by manufacturers that make hardware and software products supporting the Apple operating system. The Macworld Conference and expo also features keynote speakers that, since 1997, have been led by Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs. The show also features other conference speakers, leaders or otherwise specialized in their field.

The first Macworld Expo took place in San Francisco in 1985. One time known as simply the Macworld Expo the show used to be held in January in San Francisco and there would be one show during the summer in either NYC or Boston. Macworld Expo was renamed in 2004 to be the Macworld Conference and Expo, it was at the same time announced that Apple was going to downsize the show to just one a year, and cancelled out the summer version of the show.

The Macworld Conference and Expo has had some shows that were more notable than others usually lead by a product that became a big success once retailed in stores. The 1999 show introduced the iBook, QuickTime TV and the AirPort. The 2000 show in San Francisco introduced the Mac OS X' Aqua user interface and the same year in New York the Power Mac G4 Cube was introduced. The 2002 and 2003 shows were lead by the introduction of iMac G4, Safari, AirPort Extreme and the 17 and 12 inch PowerBooks. In 2004 an additional show to the once in San Francisco and Boston were put on in Paris and an updated iMac with a PowerPC G5 was introduced. In 2005 Mac Mini came about and 2006 introduced Intel Core Duo iMacs. Steve Jobs introduced the very popular iPhone in 2007, and in 2008 he also welcomed the MacBook Air, the world's thinnest notebook computer.

The Macworld Conference and Expo will be held from January 5-9, 2009 in San Francisco at the Monscone Center. Just the other day it was announced from Apple that the 2009 show will be the last one where the company would be participating, with that news it was also announced that Phillip Schiller an Apple executive is going to be the keynote speaker at The Macworld Conference and Expo and not Steve Jobs who has been the Keynote speaker the last 10 years. The 2009 show is expected to see an even bigger increase than the 10% the 2008 show had over the 2007 show and will be one of the largest trade shows in the United States in 2009.
