I have long been hoping for a even more featured version of iWork as I am tired of having to use Office For Mac. The introduction of Office 2008 For Mac has since blown that out of the water. Not that iWork will not be getting some work done to it, but I am hoping that Apple no longer needs Office period!
Prediction #1 - My boldest prediction, and my wildest dream would be for Apple to announce that Mac OS X will begin being sold for PC users at its current price point. I would love to see Apple get out if its little "niche" and finally go after Microsoft! I think this would gain a world of market share in the Operating System department and would help those who write software for apple get their products out to more and more people. It's great that you can run Windows on your Mac for past couple of years without Virtual PC, but really, if you use a Mac, you are smart enough and savvy enough to get around the world of computing without ever having to use a PC product, so why the hell would you start putting a full version of XP or Vista on your beautiful Apple Computer?
Prediction #2 - 100000 core CPU's!!
Prediction #3 - Beefed up Minis are due in my opinion. I am glad this thing actually made it to be honest with you. I owned the first one and have also tinkered with the old G4 Cube. The Mini in my opinion can be much more than what it is and Apple needs to find a way to get better video into these babies! I can see them adding a 3rd option to the line up and having their base system down to $499 where it should be. I would hope that with the way technology is going that all Mac desktops and laptops will feature a Super Drive as well.
Prediction #4 - Low cost displays. Yes, Apple makes some very good displays, but for a few hundred dollars less and roughly the same quality for the every day user, I will go with a Dell display thank you.
Those are my logical, yet half baked ideas as to what I personally hope for this year! I hope at least one of the comes true!

Post a CommentVery informative!
It's interesting to see the competing trend of the Mac versus the PC camps. They're so against the other product that it can get quite comical at times. They have Macs at the school I student teach at, and it doesn't look right using Office on it.
Nice predictions! I really enjoyed your article. I wrote one just like it, check out mine:)!
