Macworld Wishes Beyond the Macbook Air

MikeBabjak
Well where to begin! There is always a new shiny product that comes along during the MacWorld Expo each Winter and this year was no different.

The MacBook Air is simply amazing. I will need to write a few hundred articles here to be able to afford one though!

My wish list is not very long, but before I get to it I'd like to talk about one of the features of the MacBook Air. I have already heard complaints about the lack of a media drive, but lets face it. How many people are installing new apps and programs through CD or DVD while they are on the go. With high storage flash drives, more download sites on line than you would ever care to have, and the fact that this laptop is designed for portability first, AND the new Remote Disc feature, who needs a CD drive in this beauty!?!

Now, on to my wish that did not come true. I want a better priced Mini and better priced Displays, Period! Possibly even a new Combo of Mini and 17" Display for around $699 or less. If you truly want people to switch to Mac, you should at least offer the desktop for under $500. I think they keep missing the boat here, and while I know it is a business and it is about making money, you can afford to cut your profit margin if it is going to give you a bigger market share, and in the end a larger customer base for future Apple branded products couldn't we?

I like the video rental service at the iTunes Music, errrrr. Music/Movie/TV Show store, but unless you buy the newly reduced in price Apple TV, or have a better way of hooking up your Mac to your 500 inch plasma, monster I would pass. I don't really see the need to rent a movie I only have 24 hours to view in the first place, just to watch it on my 3 inch iPhone screen, or my 17" monitor for that matter!

All and all, everything Apple did today was acceptable, the MacBook Air will hopefully be in my hands in a few months, and all the new gadgets and updates, along with a lot of other small software releases and hardware updates over the past few weeks will keep Apple Computer where it has always been, at the tip of the spear and deep in the hearts of its loyal following.
