The rookies to be rated in this year's game have been assigned already according to the site NFLFootballnow.com
The highest rookie rankings so far go to Patrick Peterson and Marcell Dareus, two defensive players who are both expected to be rated 82 overall when the new game comes out in August. That seems fair considering both are NFL-ready and were picked high in the draft.
One of the early surprises in the rankings is that Nick Fairley, the Detroit Lions' top pick, was not in the top 10. He had slipped in the draft but many still believe he can be a star, especially playing alongside second-year monster defensive tackle Ndamukong Su for Detroit this year.
Mikel LeShoure of Illinois came in third among running backs at 72 overall however, to calm Lions fans just a bit perhaps.
Number 3 overall is a surprise in Prince Amukamara out of Nebraska, the cornerback who has a lot of strengths but many weaknesses in his game as well.
At number 4 in the Madden 2012 player rantings is AJ Green the wide receiver from Georgia who is listed as an 80 overall, and he is tied with Wisconsin DE JJ Watt at 80 overall as well.
Cameron Newton, the number one pick, Heisman winner and Carolina Panther from Auburn University, is not in the top ten considering most QB's have a hard time adjusting to the considerable learning curve in the NFL. This is no surprise to anyone.
Also among top rookies is Mark Ingram out of Alabama. Ingram played his high school ball in Michigan then went south, but he'll be staying south in New Orleans for his rookie year. He's the top running back at 79 overall in this year's game to start out.
OLB Von Miller and OG/C Mike Pouncey are also rated 79 and come in tied for the 6th spot with Ingram in the Madden NFL 2012 player ratings among rookies.
