Made in America used to be a source of pride, hardwork, sticking together and making things that were the best in the world. Now, it means living off the past glory of America and holding on to how good we used to be. We used to blow the doors off of any competition in making things that helped America prosper. Quality products made with the sweat of hardworking manufacturing workers. Men and women who wanted their products to last and to be used by all Americans.
We have sat back and watched big companies get tax breaks and incentives that helped America become a country of services vs manufacturing. Our Government gave them big money to use however they wanted. They took it and spent it in foreign countries. They are still doing that. It gives them more money to put in their pockets, using cheap labor and cheap materials. Now, the Republicans are saying, let them continue to get the breaks and loopholes. Let them keep on lying and saying, that is the only way to create jobs. They aren't struggling to pay anything. They are telling America's middle class and poor eat cake. That sort of thinking is one of the things that sent jobs away. There are more.
Another problem that caused jobs to go away was the economy, which was brought on by irresponsible behavior by many people. Government, banks, individuals and anyone that had maxed out credit cards, unreasonably large mortgages or huge loans. People were over extended and it finally caught up. We were living the good life and reality finally said enough.
However, the biggest reason jobs have gone away is our insistence to live on our past pride. We have walked around here in America for the last 20 years, sending our kids to college to be lawyers, trying to get them on Disney or trying to get them a record deal. We didn't want them to be "Blue Collar" or "Middle Class"! We wanted to make them millionaires.
Granted, I don't have a problem with millionaires, especially if they are my child, however, everybody wasn't cut out to go to college or sing or act. Everybody wasn't meant to work in an office. Some kids are just naturally drawn to "Blue Collar" activities and professions. Parents should consider this when directing kids. Know what they like and what they are good at before signing them up to be doctors.
We used the "Pride" tag and "Made In America" tag to carry around a false sense of excellence. It is a lie. Not since the WW11 generation and their offsprings(who are dying off as I write), have we been so good in manufacturing and trades, and have had so many great minds creating things for us. We walk around spouting that nonsense, but it isn't true. Country singer Toby Keith just came out with a new song called, "Made In America". He was involved in some sort of benefit giveaway in Colorado about a year ago, In this event, guitars were given away that he had autographed as his. When winning contestants started looking at the guitars they received, the guitars were "Made In China"! Sadly, his song will sell millions because of it patriotic theme, but even Toby, who is a staunch conservative, is doomed to contribute to the "Fall of America"! He too will profit from the hardwork of the Chinese while one more job left America.
I love this country. I love being proud of it. I would stand and fight for our freedoms. But it is time to Tell The Truth And Shame The Devil. America has lost the "TRUE PRIDE" it used to have. We brag about the stuff we make, but do we really put the effort into it being the best? Or do we take an extra break at work or shirk on little responsibilities at work? Yet, we want those big paychecks. We want our bonuses. We want our vacation time, healthcare and any other benefit we can get, regardless. We want to stand around and BS about our lives instead of clocking in on time or starting our work on time.
Now millions are out of work. There are no jobs. We let this happen by losing the drive and care factor we used to have. We stopped trying to make America great and have only cared about making ourselves great. So what if the fast food window clerks response is "No problem"? So what if you didn't wash your hands before handling someone's food? So what if that car you repaired isn't 100%? So what if you just didn't feel like doing your best today? So what if you let defective products go out the door or overcharged a patient? We have become more selfish and self absorbed, than I can remember in my life. We are out for No. 1 and everybody else can go to hell.
It even shows in our Government. The Democrats & Republicans, DO NOT CARE! News commentators have broadcast every word they have said and they are not concerned about America. They are only concerned whether or not they will win in 2012 or not. John Boehner will stand and cry about his "PRIDE" and "LOVE" for America, but that too is phony. He is proud as long as it serves his purpose it seems. Eric Cantor is so proud, he was photographed with his friends drinking $350 bottles of wine with Hedge Fund Managers who make more than 25 of the average middle class Americans. Yet he will slash Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security to keep from making his rich buddies pay more than 15% on Income Tax. Yea, he is proud of America. He is proud of the richer part of America. Not the people who built it.
We better figure this out in America. We are accepting defective products from other countries daily. We are standing by and screaming about no jobs. What happened to our innovation and the pride that built this country? Are we satisfied with watching America slowly sink or do we have the guts to turn it around? To find the "REAL PRIDE" that built this once GREAT country? The attitudes of giving 110%? Not being a slacker or a bum? Not trying to scam your way to the top? Real, honest, hardworking people!
They say the reason the illegal immigrants have been able to take over in America is, they are willing to do work that Americans won't do. So, you are telling me that the millions of people who are out of work would prefer to "NOT EAT" vs working in a field or fruit orchard? They had rather sleep in a box vs wash dishes? Maybe so!
However, that is the saddest thing of all. We are willing to let people who don't care about our country, work here and take their money back home, instead of putting Americans to work. I don't believe for a minute that someone who has worked for years would rather lose everything, instead of taking what they can get. If this is truly the attitude of America, then we are doomed. We will never be "Great" again, if we feel that way. America is living a lie and doesn't care enough to turn it around. What about YOU?
