Made to Crave: Book Review

Natasha Stiller
Made To Crave: Satisfying Your Deepest Desire With God, Not Food explores the pain of emotional eating. Why do we crave foods that truly harm our bodies? What might it mean if we were able to give up these foods because we desired to be disciplined individuals and have a more divine relationship with our creator?

These are the questions that Lysa Terkeurst, President of Proverbs 31 Ministries poses in her book. She shares her own internal challenges and struggles, starting with not fitting into her big pants and yearning for a different lifestyle. She asked God to settle her spirit, mind, and body. To do so, she gave up all sweets and foods that were highly processed and just junk for her insides.

She recounts her inner battles with food, her personal emotional eating patterns, and the woman that she has turned out to be coming out of her experience.

She was able to adapt to the lifestyle, with God's grace and mercy, to reach her specific goal weight and overcome her desire for chips and brownies.

This was a great read and an easy one. The chapters are short and complete with personal reflections that really allow you to think about your relationship with food. Is it a healthy one? Pick up the book and read for yourself!
