Facing 150 years behind bars Madoff leaves more then 15,400 victims to pick up the crumbs of the $170 billion stolen since the conception of his Ponzi scheme. How is it that in our society an individual can fraud so many investors out of so much money?
Over the past months listening to interviews on the news and reading newspaper articles many have placed the blame upon the government for not stepping in and Madoff himself. Neither the government nor the Madoff is to blame, those who are at fault are the greedy investors who did not ask the correct questions that would have led them to this massive scheme.
Though I wish that Madoffs victims will receive most if not all of there investment back I feel little sympathy towards their decision by investing in a fund in which its returns were consistently perfect. Nothing in life is perfect and if you come across something that looks to good to be true. It probably is.
