Madoff to the Slammer

Peter OBrien
Bernard Madoff sentenced to 150 years! An impossible sentence yet for those who where directly affected a just sentence. Or is it? He is headed to a Federal Penitentiary, put into a cell and forgotten about until he dies.

A sigh of relief may be heard from the victims however many may feel a sense of remorse that there only door to an open and valid explanation of the Ponzi scheme Madoff created has been slammed shut forever. His life and family in ruins he has no incentive to aid victims as to where all his investments are hidden. An impossible sentence has created an improbable outcome. The rawness of today's decision will soon fade from the limelight and the media for all its shortcomings has been a staunch ally and defender for the rights of victims throughout this ordeal. Reporters, analysts, editors and photographers now have to move on.

As Madoff sits in his cell and ponders his arranged future he may turn his nose up at financial authorities searching for answers and say, screw you. You got what you wanted now leave me in peace with my license plate-career and my side line of helping the prison guards with their investments.

Victim Rights groups will now have to find unique and plausible ways of keeping up the pressure. What they need is the help of a modern day Robin Hood. One who robs the rich and gives to the rich. A hero for the times?
