Madonna is Getting a Divorce

After almost eight years of marriage, it is official: the material girl is getting a divorce. Madonna, whose real name is Madonna Louise Ciccone, and her director husband Guy Ritchie have released a statement to the press, in which they have finally revealed publicly that they are indeed getting a divorce. Of course there has been speculation of this for quite some time; rumors of a rocky relationship stem from personal disagreements, arguments, and possibly even some infidelity.

According to rampant news media rumors and reports, Madonna may be involved with baseball star Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees. Speculation of their relationship started circulating all the way back in June of 2008, well before this current turn of events; granting what was once seen as a completely unfounded rumor some amount of clout. According to these rumors, however, Madonna and A-Rod, as he is better known to fans in the sports world, have agreed to keep their romantic relationship a secret until all of the dust settles from her upcoming divorce.

To complicate matters, the couple has three children in the mix, too. Rocco, who is 8, is the only child the two have together, while they have an adopted baby boy who is three years old. Madonna also has a third child from a previous relationship with Carlos Leon, a daughter who is 12. The couple has already stated that their main concern throughout all of this is indeed their children.

Madonna, who is currently on her U.S. Sticky and Sweet Tour, had a little editorial comment for her crowd at a show she performed at in Boston on the day the divorce statement was released. Before starting one song, Madonna took a hold of the microphone and said "This is for the mentally retarded" - many say this was a direct stab at her husband Guy Ritchie. He is currently in the United Kingdom working on his next film, Sherlock Holmes.

According to UK-based The Sun Magazine, Madonna has filed for divorce for a number of reasons. These include trying to leach off from her wealth, denouncing of her faith in Kaballah, failure to support her emotionally and more. There has also been speculation that the couple has no pre-nuptial agreement between them. If all of this is true, then this divorce is definitely going to turn very ugly when it finally does hit the court system.
