Madonna Kissing Curse Perhaps Over for Guy Ritchie with Divorce; Now It's A-Rod's Turn

Madonna and Guy Ritchie announced on Wednesday, October 15, that they are actually going to get a divorce. Madonna's running around with New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez was not a clear signal that Madonna and Ritchie were finished. Not technically. But Madonna representative Liz Rosenberg's announcement made it official. The nearly 8-year marriage is no more.

Guy Ritchie Kissed Madonna First Over Eight Years Ago And Look At Him Now

The official statement: "Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time."

The statement does not mention a settlement of any kind.

Rozenberg told People magazine that "The main concern for Madonna and Guy are their children - the security of their children in all senses of the word and the wellbeing of their children. That's the priority for both of them moving forward. It's a sad situation."

Madonna is in the middle of her Sticky And Sweet Tour. Guy Ritchie is currently working on his latest movie project, "Sherlock Holmes."

But Madonna has already moved on, according to many tabloids and if the paparazzi photos of her and Alex Rodriguez together are any indication. Us magazine insinuated that an affair between Madonna and the Yankees slugger back in June. It was reported that Rodriguez had even went to see the then 49-year-old Madonna just days after his daughter was born to then wife, Cindy. Just days later, on July 2, A-Rod was hit with divorce papers.

But A-Rod does not seem to be worried. Not about his impending divorce or about the Madonna Kissing Curse.

What's the Madonna Kissing Curse? It seems that every person that kisses the Queen of Pop soon sees their careers die off. For examples:

Sean Penn was married Madonna for four years. He went from making hit movies when they met to barely mentionable schlock like "Shanghai Surprise." It would be four years after separating from Madonna in 1989 before he had a hit with "Carlito's Way."

Jose Canseco was a slugging star while dating Madonna, hitting 44 home runs the year they ran around together (1991). The next year, he hit half as many and was traded to the Texas Rangers. His career continued to deteriorate.

Dennis Rodman had a fling with her in 1994. He later separated his shoulder, dressed up in a wedding dress, kicked a photographer during a game and was fined over a million dollars (suspended for 11 games as well), and married Carmen Electra in Las Vegas in a 9-day whirlwind marriage that was later annulled.

She kissed both Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. In the following year, Aguilera had to cancel her tour because of vocal strain and was sued by a paparazza. Everyone in the world knows what has happened to Britney Spears in the past several years.

And look at husband Guy Ritchie. Once a promising director of critically acclaimed movies like "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch," Ritchie's greatest claim to fame since he's been with Madonna is "Swept Away," a movie in which Madonna starred - a movie that was nominated for 7 Razzie Awards (worst movie awards) and won 5, including Worst Picture and Worst Director.

There are also tales of her involving Vanilla Ice and Warren Beatty, both of whom she dated, and a bizarre tidbit about her and Michael Jackson in 1991. Look at Michael Jackson's career since then.

Alex Rodriguez might want to at least stop kissing Madonna. Although judging from her past relationships, once might be too many times.
