Madshus was started up in Norway in 1906, and have always been known to make great products. Up until 1960 the average person could not afford to buy factory made skis. As people got more money however, their business started to grow fast. My father once told me how there had been a fire at the company where his father worked. Then he had gotten himself a brand new pair of Madshus skis when no-one else could afford them. His skis had burnt spots on them, but that did not matter. Back then as now, Madshus delivered good products, and my father's skis became the envy of every kid around.
These days factory made skis and ski products do not take up a whole year's paycheck, and Madshus is sold all over the world. Famous skiers in biathlon and cross country use Madshus, you have the Norwegian skiers Ole Einar Bjørndalen, Halvard Hanevold and Frode Estil. Then there are the German skiers Michael Greis and Axel Teichmann who also stick to Madshus for their ski equipment. These skiers among many other professionals use Madshus as a tool for their success, and so can amateurs who are planning on going to ski resorts or to the back yard.
Madshus is made by people who know about skis and ski gear. They have the knowledge through generations about what it takes to make quality products that do not disappoint. They have skiers winning Olympic medals on their skis. They have amateurs winning play races on their skis. They have families having great times at ski resorts on their skis.
Madshus is for everyone, and while I'm just an average skier would not want to be without my Madshus skis. When I take time off to go skiing I want to know that I have skis that will let me have the best experience possible.
I'm sure that there are many other good skis out there, for a couple of seasons I used Fischer myself. When I later changed back to Madshus I was much more satisfied then I had been with Fischer. My Fischer skis proved time and time again to be problematic, so when I need new skis I will not get that brand again.
Whichever brand you choose to get, you should have a professional help you. If they don't ask for your height and weight at the store, I would not buy from them, as they need to know this to get you skis that fit your body.
I would not buy skis online, so if they don't have Madshus where you live I would recommend you to research another set of skis. If they do have them however, I would get them above anything else. I trust their experience for more than 100 years. I trust Olympic winners. I trust their reputation in the skiing world, and I know for myself because Madshus has yet to let me down.
