Mafia Wars Bangkok; What I Learned

David Farrell
One day I logged onto Facebook to see a post by Mafia Wars saying that Bangkok was open and to get a Thai passport. The other items needed I had already procured by doing the required New York jobs. However, the clerks refused me a passport and said come back in eighteen hours or pay 30 reward points. Thirty reward points for a passport? Give me a break!

Eighteen hours later I got a Mafia Wars Bangkok passport and traveled to Bangkok. In Bangkok, there were businesses structured similar to the Cuban business system, with some requiring unlocking. There was, however, no free business. There was one job, which made the Mafia Wars player just enough baht to pay for the item needed for the next job. My first few days in Mafia Wars Bangkok were spent making just enough baht to pay for the weapons needed for the next job without having to perform maxed out mastery jobs just for baht. Mafia Wars Bangkok currently does not have fighting in Bangkok, so baht does not need to be banked.

Episode one of Mafia Wars Bangkok, Brawler, has two chapters. After each chapter is mastered, a job must be mastered that forces the player to side with either the Yakuza or the Triad. A favor bar exists for each faction, the Mafia Wars player gains +3 favor with the side he favors and loses -1 favor with the other. Mafia wars players start out with +50 favor each, but within time will gain enough favor to have access to weapon shops and other benefits. Many jobs seem to require untraceable cell phones, with no new source of untraceable cell phones. Mafia wars players are advised to open the send gifts to your mafia tab to acquire more phones.

Mastering level one of both chapters of episode one unlocked level two mastery for episode one and level one mastery for episode two. For the first time in Mafia Wars Bangkok, chapter one of level two in Brawler didn't require any new weapons and I managed to make enough baht to buy my first Mafia Wars Bangkok business. Looking back, buying that business then was essential to provide enough income to cover weapons for the next chapters while being able to upgrade the business a few levels.

Mafia Wars Bangkok is new, with episodes 3-6 still yet unlocked. Unlike New York and Moscow, and Cuba to some extent, proper money management is essential. Open all envelopes of baht, buy only when necessary, and after mastering level one of episode one the 12,500 baht business must be the Mafia War player's next purchase lest the Mafia Wars player be forced to waste experience doing maxed out jobs for baht. Once the business is owned, experience points can be spent in other Mafia Wars countries while the business makes baht if the lack of baht is an issue.
