Mafia Wars Las Vegas: Casino Anyone?

David Crass
It seems that Zynga is at it yet again, releasing a new set of challenges for Mafia Wars players. The first thing you need to do is collect racks of chips from your friends. Each rack of chips gets you closer to getting a chance for early access to Las Vegas. At first glance, the Las Vegas addition is pretty much like the rest of Mafia Wars. There are jobs to complete and property to purchase. The biggest difference is some jobs use stamina to fight opponents, which seems a bit cool to me, while other jobs are just as they have always been, using energy to complete.

As per usual, there are items you need to purchase to complete some Jobs and as with other locations, the money you use here is gained here. That is unless you wish to use the converter inside the vault to exchange money. It appears that New York is the only option currently available, but hopefully the other areas will be added to allow for the greatest opportunity to convert currencies from other areas. Actually, this would be a great addition to allow in all areas, but that's just my opinion.

The Vault: Limits, Star Rating, and Exchanging

The vault allows for the exchanging of $500,000 New York cash exchanged for $1000 Vegas (V$1000) cash once during a 24 hour period. This is to start out with. The time limit and amount you can convert appears to change based on your star rating, which increases as you upgrade the vault.

The vault starts with a cap of V$100,000 to start, but you can upgrade your vault by collecting or asking your friends for each of the following items: 3 security cameras, 3 reinforced steels, 3 deposit boxes, 3 motion sensors, and 3 magnetic locks. Of course you can always buy the items for 1 reward point each, a total of 15 reward points. This will double your vault to V$200,000. Be aware, the number of each item required for the next upgrade increases with each upgrade. The upside to having to upgrade your vault is that there is no vault fees, like in the other locations.

Properties: Build Your Casino

You are building a casino, so the properties page is aptly called "My Casino". The My Casino page allows you to build 5 different building, starting with slots. Also available are table games, restaurant, poker room, and hotel. Each property is made available when you complete a certain jobs, one job per district. There are a total of five districts and you must complete one before the next one opens. The slots is opened in district 1, table games in district 2, restaurant in district 3, poker room in district 4 and hotel in district 5.

Las Vegas offers two paths in the jobs area: an energy path and a fight path. There appears to be a few lesser jobs taking the fight path than the energy path. You will need to complete both paths however for you to go on to the net level in each district. Each of the five districts contain 4 levels.

Cash In Your Chips

Those racks of chips you collected to increase your chance of getting into Las Vegas early can be cashed in for money in Vegas. It appears the amount you get for each rack is random. The racks of chips are cashed in one at a time or hold on to them until you wish to cash them in. Cashing them in gives you Vegas cash and you just might need that cash to purchase the items required to complete most jobs.

Remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Mafia Wars Las Vegas!
