Job Paths
The tiers found in both Moscow and Bangkok are gone, replaced with the ability to choose your own job path. Each job path is geared toward different playing styles. The two main job paths to choose from are the Energy Path and the Fight Path. Two of the first five districts (Mafia Wars Las Vegas' designation for each chapter) have a third option: The Social Path. You can switch between paths by either choosing one of the path tabs found above the list of jobs or by clicking on the job path map found along the left side of the page in Las Vegas.
Energy Path
The Energy Path looks the most like previous Mafia Wars cities. You do jobs using your energy stat, although you cannot move on to the next job until you have completely mastered the job preceding it. In addition, the Energy Path in each district includes one job that requires a consumable item to complete. This consumable item is droppable loot from one of the first few Energy Path jobs from a particular Las Vegas district. The consumable items are unique to each district, and are only used in the district in which they are found.
Fight Path
The Fight Path, unlike all other jobs currently in Mafia Wars, uses stamina instead of energy to complete jobs. Each job in the Fight Path gives three opponents, and the player will choose one to fight. If the player wins the fight, they will gain the experience, money, and mastery for that job. If the player loses the fight, they receive no experience or money, but receive half of the mastery that they would have received for winning the fight. Along with the introduction of the Fight Club Tournaments, the Fight Path shows that Mafia Wars Las Vegas is out to even the gap between players who focus on energy and players who focus on stamina.
Social Path
Currently, only Chapters three and five contain a Social Path. Jobs in the Social Path, like the Energy Path, use a player's energy to complete. Social Path jobs, however, are the only jobs in Mafia Wars Las Vegas that players can ask for help from their friends to complete. Social Path jobs tend to take more energy and provide less mastery than some Energy Path jobs.
Job Path Mechanics, Bosses, and Mastery
As mentioned earlier, each job in Mafia Wars Las Vegas requires the jobs preceding it to be completed before the player can start working on it. All paths lead directly to the district boss, who must be defeated in battle to open up the next district. Unlike in previous Mafia Wars cities, which required that you complete all of the jobs to full mastery in a given chapter to receive that chapter's special equipment, you receive a Las Vegas district's equipment immediately after defeating the district boss on the first level of mastery. The equipment's stats will then improve when you defeat the district boss on each subsequent level of mastery.
Although it is only required that a player beat the district boss to proceed to the next district, all jobs in all job paths must be completed in a district for the player to attempt the next level of mastery in that district. Much like Mafia Wars Bangkok, each district in Mafia Wars Las Vegas has four levels of mastery: Bronze, silver, gold, and ruby.
