Mafia Wars to Overhaul New York Property System

David Farrell
Mafia wars currently has properties in four separate locations; New York, Cuba, Moscow, and Bangkok. In all but New York, they are called "businesses" and the Mafia Wars player can upgrade the product five times. The amount produced and storage capacity can be upgraded nine times.

In Mafia Wars New York, the original Mafia Wars properties were bought; first a vacant lot had to be purchased and the Mafia Wars property built on the vacant lot. As the Mafia Wars player accumulated more properties, the price of buying additional properties rose. Properties could also be sold back to the bank, but for less than they were bought for. The only reason a Mafia Wars player would sell properties was to sell mega casinos to get an achievement. Properties could be robbed by other players, forcing the person robbed to have to pay lots of money to repair.

Mafia Wars is about to update the New York properties and reintroduce robbing. Undeveloped space will become a thing of the past. Buying properties will become a one step process, and the cost of the undeveloped properties will instead be factored into the total cost.

New York mafia wars properties will no longer be able to be bought; rather they will be upgraded. Instead of having, say, 50 level one Marina Tourist shops, it would be one level 50 Marina Tourist shop. Selling properties will also be phased out. Mafia wars players who haven't yet sold 50 mega casinos should earn the cashing out achievement before it is too late. The Mafia Wars player would still have the same profit increase potential from upgrading as from buying.

Property payout rates will change. Instead of collecting a fraction every three hours, the property will take a set amount of time during which it produces, with a timer indicating when the production can be collected. The Mafia Wars player will then know when his properties are ready to collect and can collect when production is complete, similar to how Mafia layers know when another Daily Chance lottery ticket is available.

Mafia wars reassures its players that they won't be losing money during this upgrade. However, by not being able to collect partial earnings, Mafia Wars players may not be as able to make money due to the set collection times.

I have no idea; I've been so busy playing RuneScape and working that I only remember to check every two weeks, and usually all my stuff is robbed. I'll check mafia wars and see if my properties got destroyed as well.

i had a level 25 uptown hotel, and i was 2 upgrades away on my casino from having everything at level 25, and all of a sudden my hotel vanished. earlier today, it was there, now it is gone like i never even had it. ticks me off, spent lots of time and money buying and upgrading. is this going to become a regular thing now? if so, that sucks. can properties be stolen?

Dude the prperties are still there. You need to upgrade now as opposed to buying more roperties. Just rest your mouse ver the building and the upgrade menu will appear.

I guess the money just sits there. To maximise earnings, collect asap. When you do be it on time or a week later, the property resets and begins at 0%.

Question: What happens when the money is ready to be collected and you don't do it - maybe you skip a day or something? Does the property stop earning until you collect and reset the timer? We used to count on letting properties keep depositing into your account every hour....
