Maggie attended the prestigious Marylhurst College, majoring in composition and theory. During that experience she gained a deep respect and appreciation for classical music, then decided to hit the road in search of something more personally fulfilling. Traveling took her musically into the far corners of the world filling her soul with the music of Vietnam, the rhythms of Africa, and the sounds of the Ituri Forest Pygmies and Native American flute. In conjunction with that mind expanding music the young artist experimented with midi, studied studio recording, jazz guitar, and video production. During this time her songwriting flourished. Music was Maggie's only real emotional outlet and she set out to pour every ounce of time and energy into it.
In April 2006, Maggie quit her day job to make room for music again and in January 2007 released her debut album Trust. Maggie says "The ability to make music is such a wonderful gift. I'm barely breathing without it. There is no other path..." That statement summarizes a lifetime of love and passion for music as an art form. All of her feelings reach its fruition on the eclectic and driven tracks of Trust, a progressive rock adult contemporary treat for the ears and senses. The album uses rock as a platform and dives into the realms of progressive and jazz while very skillfully combining all three genres to give the alert listener some substance and a requirement to absorb repeated listens to realize the scope and breadth of this work.
"Down On Love" is a track that starts as a pitter patter of rain drops outside your window which builds into gradual hard driving sheets of musical rain that leaves you hanging in anticipation for the next track. The following track "Only You," ups the ante with more powerfully focused energy, pushing the musical envelope to the brink, while the catchy "Please" is a radio friendly spot on pick for a single. The album features the give and take female to male vocals from Sayles and her counterpart Rex McNew. As the album takes shape and develops into one complete and memorable listening experience that is not to be missed.
