Myojin of Life's Web has a high casting cost: three green mana and six colorless mana. This is a very reasonable cost for what the card can do, however. Aside from its amazing ability, it is an 8/8 creature and is indestructible as long as it has a divinity counter. (Indestructibility does not apply, however, in the case of a permanent being sacrificed or in the case of the legendary creature rule, where if there is more than one copy of a legendary creature on the battlefield at the same time, they will all be put into their owners' graveyards.)
Myojin of Life's Web is especially useful when combined with That Which Was Taken, a legendary artifact from the Betrayers of Kamigawa expansion set. By paying four colorless mana and tapping That Which Was Taken, you can put a divinity counter on a target permanent. For most permanents, this simply makes them indestructible. For Myojin of Life's Web and the other legendary spirit creatures from the Champions of Kamigawa expansion set, however, a divinity counter can be used to activate special, powerful abilities.
Normally Myojin of Life's Web would only get one divinity counter, and only if you cast it from your hand. With That Which Was Taken, however, you can put additional divinity counters on Myojin of Life's Web, or put a divinity counter on it even if it was put into play due to the effect of another spell instead of being cast from your hand. This allows you to activate Myojin of Life's Web's ability more than once.
Because of its ability to let you put creature into play without paying their casting cost, Myojin of Life's Web is a very beneficial addition to any deck with powerful, expensive creatures, or for a green deck with many mana-producing creatures which will give you the mana necessary to cast further spells. Especially when combined with That Which Was Taken, Myojin of Life's Web provides a very powerful ability for its casting cost.
