Magic Kingdom 2008: The Arrival of Another Year of Dreams

Christopher Blydenburgh
Lots and lots of families have been living their dream for one night as a prince or a princess at Magic Kingdom during 2007. Lucky guests of the Disney Parks have been surprised with amazing gifts like trading pins or even cruises to Europe, as a part of Disney Dreams Giveaway. Happy kids have been given a Dream Fastpass to short the time of waiting for the attractions of Disney World and some of them even got a chance to meet a Disney princess. It really has been an amazingly magic year for the guests of the Disney Parks.

This year will soon be ended, but luckily there are still chances to have your dreams come true. The company of Walt Disney has made an announcement that The Year of a Million Dreams will go on in 2008 as well, including a lot of new dreams but also the popular ones from 2007.

We were told by Faron Kelley from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts that they have great surprises including new wonderful attractions and lots of entertainment in California as well as in Florida. There will be a million of new prizes that you can only dream of in both of the parks and one of the new prizes will be a new, very special experience at Disneyland that actually were one of Walt Disney's wishes for the park.

Faron Kelley is working as a development director of the global projects at Disneyland and he tells us that they have been working on these plans for 6 months now but the plans have been kept as a secret until now. When the Year of The Million Dreams had been tried out for a while the team decided to keep it going since it was a really good idea. Faron Kelley thinks that even more guests deserve to experience this world of dreams.

Some of the prizes will continue, and one of them is the Mickey Mouse ears. They have been a little bit redesigned though. Another continuing prize is the Dream Fastpass since it is liked by most guests. There will also be amusing dining possibilities, $500 shopping sprees as well as a pin of limited edition. There will still be possible to stay in the Cinderella castle suite for one night.

The guests of the Californian Disneyland will no longer be able to experience the Mickey suite but this will be replaced by a new, wonderful surprise, namely the Disneyland Dream Suite which will be open for guests almost every night of the week and give the guests the possibility to stay in Disneyland all night long. This suite is made especially for The Year of a Million Dreams and it will take place in the former gallery in New Oreans Square. From the beginning Walt Disney wanted that place to be a place where family and friends could live. An apartment where he could let his family stay when they was at Disneyland for a visit. Walt himself lived at Main Street. This dream of his never came true but his plans made an inspiration for the team while they were planning the Disneyland Dream Suite.

Except for the prizes there will also be chance for experiencing new amenities as well as opened in the summer 2008 in both parks. It will be a great adventure for the entire family where you can take part in the attraction and compete in a 3D game inspired by the Toy Story film which was produced by Disney Pixar.

There will be lots of new experiences in the spring 2008. For example there will be lots of new characters in the Playhouse Disney Live on Stage and a new show will start. In Disney's California Adventure a new Pixar Play Parade will start and the Block Party Bash will arrive to Disney-MGM Studios from Disney's California Adventure.

Usually a year only contains 365 days, but surely no one will be disappointed that The Year of a Million Dreams will last for the double. New prized as well as wonderful surprises will make sure that lots of guest will have the chance to have their dreams fulfilled in the New Year 2008.
