Magic in the Wind- Christine Feehan

Terri Pray
I first stumbled across the Drake Sisters in an anthology by Christine Feehan called The Wicked and Wondrous. What I didn't realize is there was a novella out in the series that was sold as just a novella, instead of being teamed up with another book. When I spotted this slim little volume on the shelf at the library I snatched it up.

Magic in the Wind turns out to be the first of the Drake Sister stories, following Sarah the eldest of the sisters and it also explains the legend in their family about the locked gate that will open to welcome the man they are destined to be with. When they were younger the sisters made a pact and padlocked the gate to prevent any man from entering through it. Yet when Damon is able to walk through the gate, when he finds it unlocked and opened for him, Sarah Drake soon learns that the foretelling is true and there's no way to escape once the gate has welcomed a man into her life.

I can't go into too much detail with this story as it truly is that short, barely 100 pages long. But it's a delicious little read that acts as an ideal opening into the world of the Drake Sisters.

Ms. Feehan is, to my viewpoint, one of the leading authors in this genre, and I haven't, as yet, read a single book of hers that I haven't enjoyed.

Each of the Drake sisters faces their own challenges in life, they have strengths and weaknesses, but one factor within the story of the Drake Sisters is the way they band together and have learned to use their magic as a team. If you're looking for a quick read that will give you a taste of Ms. Feehan's skills, then Magic in the Wind is the ideal book for you.
