If I had the magic words
you would be here right now
you would cross the bridge that separates us
to be in my arms
and to wake up beside me each day
You would be able to do what you needed to do
to work and make a living
but you would still find a way to be here right now

But you...you do have some magic words
because you say enough to keep me here, waiting for you
on the far side of the bridge that separate us.
waking up on my own each day
while you work on making things perfect
even though all I need and want
is to be in your arms
waking up beside you each day
as you whisper the true magic words
that I long to hear
and probably never will.
