To be honest I was skeptical, but I put the money down. The MagicJack actually runs $39.95 plus tax. The purchase price includes the jack and the first year of service. So, armed with a store return policy and receipt I headed out the door to try out my new phone.
To use this phenomenal product all you must have is an internet connection, a computer with a USB port, and a phone. The phone can either be a standard house phone or a cordless phone. It is important to note however, that you can not use a cell phone as the primary phone for the MagicJack.. But, you can use the MagicJack to both call and receive calls from most cell phones.
The MagicJack is easy to install. All you have to do is plug it into your USB port and you're ready to go. The MagicJack installs the program onto your computer at plug in, and easy to follow directions are displayed right onto the computer screen. Anyone can install this jack, and the MagicJack can be used even if you already have a landline for instant access to a second line. You can even use multiple MagicJacks off of the same modem for multiple landlines into your home!
To use the MagicJack to make calls you have some options. You can enter the phone number that you are wishing to call directly into the phone, or you can enter it with the mouse using the MagicJack number pad. It is also possible to double click onto the names in your contact list and make calls that way. This is actually so easy!
Another perk with the MagicJack is that you can choose where you want your local service. I have a lot of family spread throughout the country, and while we live in Missouri, I could choose the state and city where I wanted to have my local service. This makes it perfect to stay in contact with family who may not have the option of long distance service. Of course, buying them a MagicJack could solve all their telephone problems!
So, the MagicJack sounds to good to be true, but it is! As a mother, the only other question I had concerning the MagicJack was, "Can you call 911 with the service?" The answer is a resounding yes! All you have to do is enter your home address when you fill out the forms upon installation, and 911 will have your address.
I could go on and on about this product. It is truly amazing. It can be purchased at many local stores including, Wal-Mart, Staples, and Walgreens, or off of the Internet at

Post a CommentI have never heard of this product in our area. I will have to research it a little more since vonage is getting a little pricey. Have you tried to call internationally? In addition, when you call through this jack, do you use your computer mic or your handheld cordless phone?
