MagicJack Introduces the MagicJack Cell Phone Device
Product Enables You to Make Cell Phone Calls and Not Use Any of Your Minutes
YMax Corporation are the developers of the magicJack. They recently unveiled their latest magicJack project at the recent Consumers Electronics Show (CES) that was held this past month. The company plans to release the product with the same pricing structure that they release the original magicJack with. You will be able to purchase the product for an initial fee of $40. This price will cover you for the first year, following with a $40 fee at the beginning of every year after that. Now let me explain how this device really works.
My company was lucky enough to attend the Consumers Electronics Show and watch a live demo on how this device will work. What you have is a small USB looking device that is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. You take the magicJack and plug it into your personal computer (PC). The magicJack will then use your broadband Internet connection (you must have this type of Internet connection for the device to work). Instead of simply using the power of the Internet to provide you with telephone service like the original magicJack would, the new version searches for a compatible cell phone within 8 feet. This compatible cell phone will of course be the cell phone that you own.
Once your phone is detected, you are then prompted to enter a special code onto your cell phone. This code enables you to link your cell phone to the magicJack device that is connected to your computer. You are now ready to call anywhere in the US and Canada for no extra fees. Your cell phone will not use any of it's minutes because it is using the power of the Internet. For example, let us say you own a prepaid cell phone from T-Mobile. Your minutes are incredibly valuable and you need to preserve them. You simply connect the device whenever you are home., The end result is that you can make as many calls as you want within a 3,000 square foot home. No minutes will be deducted throughout your use.
Currently, the magicJack device is only able to work with something called the GSM standard. Nearly 80% of the current global mobile market follows this standard. However, the two main carriers that follow this standard in the United States are At&T and T-Mobile. What this means is that the magicJack will not work for anyone who uses Verizon or any of the other service providers. Many people at the show see this as the only negative and hope that it is something that can be rectified in the near future.
YMax Corporation proclaimed that this will be the future of cell phone use. I would have to say that I agree with their bold statement. The only evidence that you need to look at should be in the form of the original magicJack. Nearly 3 million people have purchased the product. This has drastically changed the telephone industry. They have lost tons of business and have been forced to slightly lower prices. The cell phone industry has been lowering prices left and right. MagicJack will cause the cell phone industry to lower their prices even more. This is only beneficial to us.
The company explained to us that they plan to release the new product within the next four months. There is sure to be a big fight from At&T and T-Mobile because they will be losing a ton of money. Time will tell if a lawsuit will be launched and if magicjack's new device will last. However, it is more than likely that they will lose the lawsuit because their are no laws in place that consider such an activity to be illegal. So my answer is to keep you eye's open for this product when it comes out. It will be a game changer for the cell phone industry and will result in lower prices for everyone.
