Sometimes I don't know.
Why do I even try?
I let you walk across me
for days,
months, years...more than I
can even remember.
Why do I even try?
I let you walk across me
for days,
months, years...more than I
can even remember.
Who held my hand?
I finally know -and why.
Who guided struggling steps?
Not you, and you know it.
I owe you nothing.
You can try,
try to re-write history. But,
I have heard my voice.
I have heard the words
whispering from the past
in real time; and I know.
