The new wave of CNG fuelled vehicles has begun formally. Mahindra and Mahindra introduced a CNG variant of pick up vehicle Maxx Maxi truck. The new variant will be priced at Rs 3.79 Lakh(ex-showroom Delhi). The new CNG variant costs Rs 50,000 higher than the diesel variant. Mahindra looks to strengthen its position in the segment.

Talking about it to press reporters Senior Vice-President Marketing Automotive Sector Mr. Vivek Nayer said "Mahindra managed to grow by 11 percent even as the pick up segment slid down by 4 percent. We have managed to grow our market share by 85 percent from the previous 77 percent."

The Maxx Maxi Truck has been driving the growth for Mahindra since it was launched in 2006. A CNG variant will help reduce running costs and maintenance expenses, which is an advantage in the highly competitive four wheel small load category. The Maxx Maxi Truck has a load capacity of 820 kgs.

M&M is the leader in the sub-one-ton commercial pick-vehicle market.
