When I first called Mahwah Movers it was because I'd gotten a referral from a girlfriend who had moved and used them several times. She had nothing but good things to say about them. With her long history of numerous moves I felt this was an excellent referral.

Mahwah Movers work on Saturday, this was a plus for us as we were flying in to empty a house and needed the week days to pack., They will do last minute moves,both residential and commercial. Just call them and get an estimate. They can pack you or you can pack yourself. They will provide boxes and the come with shrink wrap and padding as well as bubble wrap when they arrive. They were also exactly on time, efficient and friendly. They introduced themselves and got our names so when they needed information they could just refer to us. The first thing they did after introductions was to walk around the house with us and have us point out what items needed to go and what needed special attention.

The men got right to work after the initial walk through. As they moved from one piece of furniture to another they would point out any shaky or damaged areas in the furniture. They proceeded to show me that they were carefully wrapping the more delicate pieces, They shrink wrapped my large armoire as well as my mattress and box spring and couches. They dismantled any items that needed to be broken down. They used special boxing for my large mirrors and pictures, then they padded them as well. The movers allowed toweling and sheets to be in drawers but it's best to use them as part of your packing cushioning.

If you have no boxes , none you've collected or you need special size boxes you can always call and order boxes from them. They own Boxes and More a company that can supply all your packing needs. Although I was able to get many smaller boxes from a local liquor store Mahwah movers provided other boxes for me. You can get all the bubble wrap and other packing supplies you might need from the Boxes and More adjunct company as well.

Insurance is basic $.60 per pound per article or the cost of repairs whichever is less. So, you may want to get more insurance. That's up to you. Most breakage occurs during loading and unloading not in transport.

My move was a double move since I had to be put in storage. The Mahwah Movers have a state of the art storage facility. It has 24 hour security and is climate controlled. It can handle industrial, commercial and residential items. Items like mine are stored in a palletized vault. It is solid wood, less expensive for you when you store and is solid wood. It is 5' by 7' x 7'. Everything is left wrapped ready to be moved to your final home. This means less handling, les sbreakage possibility. Glass, large mirrors and artwork are on special shelves. This is a private warehouse, not public. Access is by appointment only and the facility is supervised by a company employee. If you go to their web site you can actually see the storage facilty.

It took the men 2 1/2 hours to pack up my items and boxes and get it all on the truck. At the end they gave me my receipt, explained where the items were being taken and what they do with them. They off load and then fill a vault that will store my things . You can see the vault on the web site.

A little suggestion for those of you getting ready to embark on a move. Label all your boxes as to which room the items go into. Give each box a number and keep a sheet with the numbers of the boxes and whats in each box. I would also put one of those address stickers on each box with your name on it. Keep books in smaller sturdier boes. Wrap bric a brac separately with good cushioning. Don't overload boxes.
