My first real glimpse of a fashionable, confident and beautiful mother was Kimora Lee Simmons. I thought that it was great that she didn't lose her sexiness and fashion sense just because she became a mother. She still wore high heels, wore pretty make up, kept her hair well groomed, and just had a well groomed look to her. That made a big impression on me, and I think that it's important for all mothers, of any age, to put forth the effort to look nice. It doesn't require a lot of money.
Here are a few tips to stay fashionable, chic, confident and beautiful while juggling your duties as a mother.
1. Take a shower first thing.
If you start your day by showering and freshening up, then you have started your day off right. I have found as a mom that if I don't do that, I end up walking around in my pajamas for a longer portion of the day than I planned, am less productive, and less prepared for spontaneous events, like a dash to the store, or someone coming over to my home. If it means that you need to wake up earlier than everyone else, do it.
2. Apply make up, do your hair, brush your teeth, get dressed.
This is especially important for stay at home moms, who feel that they aren't going anywhere special, so there is no need to put forth any extra effort to look nice. But, your children see you, and your husband will see you too. Why not try to look nice and pretty while taking care of your family. You can keep it really simple, like a dab of lipstick and blush.
3. Wear clothes that flatter YOUR body.
You should have an idea of what kind of clothes you feel good in. For me, I love wearing a pretty and feminine dress. I feel great when I go out with a cute dress and cute heels. I feel an extra sense of confidence, because I know that what I'm wearing compliments my body. If you're unsure of what looks great on you, ask your friends and family what they think. This can serve as a guide for you. Get rid of outdated and frumpy clothes that do not look good on you. Please toss the baggy pants, oversized sweaters, dingy sneakers, etc. If you look in the mirror and don't think that the clothes enhance your beauty or your body, do not wear it.
4. Exercise.
Exercise is a great way to enhance your mood and help you feel great about yourself. Not only does it result in a better body, but a better frame of mind and newfound energy.
5. Wear high heels.
Maybe not all the time. But, every once in a while, exercise your femininity and sport a nice pair of high heels. Heels are sexy, period. And walking in them adds an extra bounce to your step.
Becoming a mother does not mean the end of being a fabulous and chic woman. It only means that you're a fabulous, chic woman and a mother. So, go out and feel and look great. You will undoubtedly inspire other women to do the same.
