Major Arcana
I slept an hour this morning, not
the quiet dreaming I sought
after too many nights not, but
a fevered restlessness
of time stolen from the gods.
A dream filled with floating arcana;
a people of cats speaking words
I should - did not - understand.
Warriors and lovers, chariots
and hermits, emperor
and emperoress, below
hung a hanged man,
while above floated a high
priestess and magician.
Silently speaking, their screaming
drove me from my bed
into my head.
