Now, if you've played previous 2K games, this one will not be a surprise. I believe the only audience that sports games in general can attract are newer audiences, such as younger kids, or people who simply get tired of mainstream FPS games. I believe 2K10 found the perfect way to enhance game play without cutting frames per second, which was a hard task I'm sure. Some new features include being able to pitch the ball exactly where you want, provided you watch your pitch count. Batters eye, an interesting new feature, lets you see the ball as if you were actually playing baseball, in first person. This allows you to better judge what kind of pitch you're dealing with (fastball, curve-ball, etc.). There will be a player rating system, so now you have bragging rights. You can create a player, and make your way into the hall of fame. You can scout players, asses strengths, weaknesses and tendencies, and then exploit them to get the upper hand.
In Conclusion, do these features mean you should upgrade 2K9 or 2K8 to 2K10? I don't think you should if you were considering it. If you are new to these games, I would suggest buying this. If you are extremely curious however, you could rent it, and get the feel. If you really do like it, then maybe you should consider buying it. Thanks for reading, I hope you consider renting this game.
